BEA Raises Money for District Mom Diagnosed with Cancer

When district mom Danielle McHenry was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, the Bald Eagle Area School District wanted to make sure she knew she wasn’t alone in the fight against the disease. Through 105 T-shirt sales and additional donations, $1,060 was raised before Christmas break for the mother of four.

But it doesn’t stop there. The district is still taking donations to support the McHenry family, whose children attend Bald Eagle Area Middle and High School and Port Matilda Elementary School.

T-shirts that say “Fight Like a Girl” may still be purchased for $18, and $5 from each sale will be donated to the McHenry family. Checks can also be made payable to the Port Matilda PTO and sent to Port Matilda Elementary School, 209 Locust St., Port Matilda, PA, 16870. The Parent Teacher Organization is responsible for the shirt sales.

If interested in ordering a T-shirt or making a donation, please contact Port Matilda Elementary School third-grade teacher Sarah Stere at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or contact the school at 692-7429. T-shirts are made by Basalla Embroidery and McHenry was provided with a free shirt from the company.
