Wingate Elementary first-grade students helped to collect CANuary food donations.

The BEASD students in our elementary schools are learning about the importance of giving back. Each of the schools takes part in events where students learn leadership, teamwork, and most importantly, giving back and helping others in their community. We are so proud of all of our students and what they have accomplished to help those in need in our community.

Below are just a few of the highlights. You can read all of the details on The Centre Daily Times website.

Port Matilda Elementary
Students collected 36 toys for Toys for Tots. They designed a flyer and a billboard to advertise their event.

Wingate Elementary
The students at Wingate created a “mountain” of food made up of donated canned goods for the Milesburg Food Pantry. Known as “Canuary” this is an annual event that happens in January.

Mountaintop Area Elementary
Foregoing their usual gift exchange, students at Mountaintop Area Elementary instead decided to give to two organizations - Pets Come First and Centre County PAWS. They also collected 1,200 pounds of food for the local food bank.

Howard Elementary
Students bring joy to members of the community with the annual caroling event. They also participate in the school’s annual walk-a-thon, raising money for various charitable organizations.
