Winning Students’ Schools Receive Buddy Benches

BEA Students Selected Among 12 Finalists for Recycling Poster Contest In November, four Bald Eagle Area students were named among the 12 finalists in a poster contest co-sponsored by Weis Markets and Centre County Recycling & Refuse Authority.

Students were challenged to create posters that reflect the theme “How My Buddies and I Recycle.”

BEA finalists included:

  • Marlando Jones (Wingate Elementary)
  • Quentin Muirhead (Snow Shoe Elementary)
  • Niziah Noone (Howard Elementary)
  • Joseph Jones (Port Matilda Elementary)

All winning students’ schools received buddy benches, donated by Weis Market. These benches, made from recycled plastic bottles, serve as a place where students can sit, resolve their differences, and become friends.

Additionally, winners received $25 Weis gift cards and framed pictures of their posters. The winning posters have been used to create a free 2017 calendar which can be picked up at local Weis Market stores.
