But what you might find is a few crew members working on the outside of the building. You won’t find any major construction going on this summer at Bald Eagle Area High School.

The goal is to remove unsafe steps and a rusty railing near the entryway from the wrestling area to the receiving rooms, and replace them.

Superintendent Jeff Miles said work includes new concrete, a retaining wall, landscaping and other miscellaneous work.

And it’s being spearheaded by Randy Greene, the district facilities manager.

“The steps there were in bad shape and the railing was rusted out, and there was an area where kids would walk through the grass, so it looked like a cow pasture,” Miles said. “All that is being redone, and it’s going to look great.”

Construction of the retaining wall was finished last week.

The project started about three weeks ago and is expected to be done before school starts, Miles said.

“It’s nothing major, but we did want to make it safe and make it look nice,” Miles said.

Students in FFA, under the direction of teacher Todd Biddle, will also work on the landscaping.

“They’ll pick the plants and make it look real nice,” Miles said.
